Joseph Bonardi
Owner/Stylist
Joseph has literally been around the
business of hair his entire life. He is a second-generation
hairstylist, thanks to his mother who owned and operated a technical hair
school for many years outside of Chicago.
After completing basic technical
training and receiving his license in 1978, Joseph enrolled in a two-year
advanced apprenticeship with "Karl of Germany" at Coiffures
International, which was the finest European Hair Salon in Madison during
its years of operation. Many of the area's best hairdressers came
from this salon, as the standards were the highest anyone had seen at that
time. In addition, Joseph received advanced training from Vidal
Sasson Academy, Irvine Rusk, Toni & Guy, and Aveda Institute, among
others. He has worked with hair colour companies such as Framisi,
Goldwell, and recently Tocco Magico, producer of the finest permanent
colour on the market (blonde shades stay longer, reds don't fade).
Joseph has spent 25 years pursuing the
best training possible, both following and shaping current trends and
styles. He has owned two hair salons, most recently Genre Hair Studio
which he has operated for the past 14 years.
Being the primary hair stylist of the
recently demised Madison Repertory Theatre, he has done extensive work in
period hair styles, and wig making and styling. Visit the Theatre Page for examples of
Joe's theatre work.
Joseph has also done work in film and
TV, most notably Road Rules [MTV] and Wisconsin Death Trip [BBC].
